Reverend
Dr.
Michael
Wayne
Hopkins
is a
native
of
Baltimore
MD and
was born
to the
late
Deacon
Elsie M.
Young
and the
late
Lexie
Hopkins.
He
received
his
early
Christian
training
at the
Cornerstone
Church
of
Christ
under
the late
Rev. I.
Logan
Kearse.
It was
there
that he
accepted
Jesus
Christ
as
Savior
and Lord
and was
baptized
in the
spring
of 1972.
Soon
after
graduating
from
Forest
Park
Senior
High
School
in
Baltimore,
MD., Dr.
Hopkins
enlisted
in the
United
States
Navy
where he
served
for (10)
ten
years as
a
Aviation
Anit-submarine
Warfare
Operator
and
Rescue
Swimmer.
While
serving
in the
military
he
joined
the Good
Shepherd
Baptist
Church
in
Baltimore
MD and
began
studying
the
scriptures
under
the late
Rev.
Robert
C.
Hunt.
It was
there
that Dr.
Hopkins
grew in
wisdom
and
knowledge
of Lord
and
received
his call
into the
preaching
and
teaching
ministry,
and
later
licensed
in the
fall of
1989.
To
pursue
his call
in the
ministry
and
further
prepare
for the
work of
the
Lord, he
was
honorably
discharged
from the
military
and
received
his
Bachelor
of Arts
Degree
in
Religious
Studies
and
Sociology
from
Saint
Leo
University
in Saint
Leo FL
in 1992.
He was
later
called
to his
first
appointing
as
Assistant
Pastor
of
Emmanuel
Christian
Community
Church.
There
Dr.
Hopkins
demonstrated
exemplary
pastoral
leadership
by
assuming
the
senior
pastor’s
duties
after
his
retirement.
Through
his
leadership
many
ministries
were
organized
and the
membership
increased
dramatically.
Dr.
Hopkins
is an
alumnus
of
Howard
University’s
School
of
Divinity
where he
received
his
Masters
of
Divinity
in 1995.
He
continued
his
quest
for
academic
excellence
and
received
his
Doctor
of
Ministry
Degree
from
Virginia
Union
University
in
Richmond
VA in
spring
of 2003,
where
his
dissertation
was
entitled,
“A
Model of
Healing
and
Spiritual
Renewal
for
Pastor
and
People
after
Congregational
Conflict”.
God used
Dr.
Hopkins
and led
him to
organize
the Lamb
of Life
Baptist
Church
in June
1994
where he
served
faithfully
for 15
years
until He
was
called
to his
present
assignment
as the
Shepherd
of the
Historic
Third
Baptist
Church
in great
city of
Washington
DC.
Faithful,
is the
word
that
describes
Dr.
Hopkins.
He is
faithful
to the
call to
love,
lead and
serve
the
people
of Third
Baptist,
and all
who
desire
to know
Christ
and to
hear a
word of
exhortation,
encourage
and
comfort.
He is a
dynamic
and
awesome
preacher
who has
delivered
powerful
sermons
all over
the
United
States.
He is a
much
sought
after
lecturer
who
specialize
in area
of
healing
pastors
and
congregations
after
conflict.
Among
some of
his
workshops
and
seminars
are,
“Lion’s
Den
Faith”,
“Keepers
of the
Flame”,
“The
Worship
Experience:
What a
privilege”,
and
“Healing
after
the
Church
Fight”
each is
gear to
bringing
spiritual
renewal
to the
Body of
Christ.
Dr.
Hopkins
is
currently
under
the
covering
and
mentoring
of
Bishop
Walter
S.
Thomas
of the
New
Psalmist
Baptist
Church
in
Baltimore
and is a
charter
member
of the
Kingdom
Association
of
Covenant
Pastors
(KACP).
He is
gladly
and
madly in
love
with his
wife and
friend
Lady
Janet A.
Hopkins
of
Belize,
Central
America
and is
the
proud
father
of
Michael
Jahi and
Megan
Jaha.
